Leadership Book "How I Made It"
Civilwar…Poverty…Corruption…Suffering…BloodDiamonds…Tribalism...Ebola…Nepotism.
These are the words that are most often associated with Sierra Leone in the minds of people inside and outside of Sierra Leone, when they think and talk about Sierra Leone. It is easy to think, given the avalanche of negative news about Sierra Leone, that nothing good could come from Sierra Leone, or that nothing good is happening in Sierra Leone.
You would be wrong.
Even in the midst of the bad news and negative events, there are beacons of light. There are people doing amazing and successful things and positively impacting their families, their professions, and their communities. They may not be people that you have heard about often in the news, and they may not be political leaders, but they are successful leaders making a positive impact in their fields and communities.
“How I Made It” is a book that highlights some of these people, and chronicles their journey to how they became what they are today. It profiles twenty successful Sierra Leonean leaders from all walks of life, and describes, in their own words, how they got to be what they are today, how their childhood experiences influenced their current situation, how they handled adversity and failure, and what they believe have been the keys to their success. The people profiled in this book are business people, educators, doctors, lawyers, musicians, administrators, brokers, engineers and journalists. Some come from wealthy backgrounds, and some come from poor backgrounds. Some were educated exclusively in Sierra Leone, and some were educated in other countries as well as in Sierra Leone.
“How I Made It” is written for people of ages 13 and older. Order it now on Lulu.com or Amazon.com. Proceeds from the sale of the book go to LGCI, supporting the training of leaders and education of future generations of leaders.
